Maren Phillips, a San Antonio, Texas artist, has produced exceptional artwork professionally since 1977, and works in a variety of mediums — most notably, and unusually, watercolor. She works in a classical manner with pencil, and her oils glow with life.
Maren received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1972 from the Washington University School of Fine Arts in St. Louis, Missouri. While enrolled in the Master of Fine Arts program at the University of Texas in San Antonio, Maren began doing portrait work at galleries on the San Antonio River Walk. Maren can produce breathtaking portraits of people (adults and children), pets (dogs, cats, horses, etc.) — alone or in any combination. Portraits can be created from live sittings or from photographs. In addition to pencil and watercolor portraits, oil commissions are available (please contact Maren for details).
Maren travels extensively throughout the United States, participating in art shows and nature festivals & events. In addition to art festivals, Maren attends dog shows, horse shows, and cat shows, where she creates portraits of her subjects on site directly from the critters or from photographs.

Maren wears several hats and another one is her nature related notecard collection, WILDLines. She has created these original designs and currently has 17 (and counting!) different notecard collections. Notecards are available in packages of 10 cards with 10 different images (the Whooping Cranes, Prairie Chickens, and Sandhill Cranes sets contain 5 designs with 2 cards apiece). Each package includes 10 envelopes.
Maren's WILDlines notecards can be found in retail shops across the United States and at the many nature related events she attends each year. She says she never paints any bird or critter without having first seen it in nature, within it's natural environment, where she can observe behavior as well as color, shape and personality!
